The Small Munsterlander Club of North America (SMCNA) is having its annual conference at Whispering Pines , our club is a breed club for the Small Munsterlander which is a versatile hunting dog of 50 pounds or so that points in its hunting of upland birds and fur , also hunts waterfowl and tracks wounded dear or blood tracks of dear. We have a membership of 500 or so people across the country and we try to have our conference in a different part of the USA to allow our membership to participate, this year thanks to Whispering Pines Hideaway we are here in the Finger Lakes. We can be found on the internet at www.smcna.org.
Note: Two of our guest seminar instructors are from the small munsterlander club in Denmark, and two are from our club.
A brief revue of the schedule:
On Friday May 4th we will be meeting to gather for the weekend and will be more or less having an informal seminar on the JGHV Testing system of versatile hunting dogs, which is modeled on testing done in Germany for our dogs. We will be covering the VJP, the HZP, and VGP tests.
On Saturday we will be having in the morning seminars on Puppy Evaluation, non force retrieving as well as a Chukar Challenge. In the afternoon we will be working with Blood Tracking for Wounded Deer (without a wounded deer), and a seminar on the JGHV Testing System covering the three tests as mentioned above.
On Sunday we will have laid blood tracks the night before and we will work those at this time. Later in the morning we will have a continuation of the JGHV Testing System and the non- force retrieving seminars until noon. In the afternoon we will have a conformation introduction and a lesson on how to present your dog properly for a Conformation Evaluation. Those training to be judges there will be an opportunity to evaluate for conformation . Later in the afternoon we will work on whatever was not covered enough on the weekend for those interested.
Access to our seminars:
We ask those who will be at Whispering Pines, who are not members of our club, to understand that all seminars are participatory for the members, that those who are not members can certainly enjoy what we have to offer as observers. Understanding our dogs are a big part of our lives and the Conference happens once a year , yet we feel we have lots to offer those who wish to watch, we would like to limit non members to 5 in any given seminar so call or email me to let me know your intentions. Yogi Berra once said, ‘you can observe a lot by watching’ Thank You for your understanding here.
Our Chukar Challenge is open to all, but we ask you to understand the Field Marshal and the Judges on the field are there for your safety and will honor your wishes to see our dogs work as they can. We will have a soda bucket out for your refreshment. Meals and evening activities are for members of the SMCNA.
Thank You all and we look forward to being with you at Whispering Pines.
Please feel free to call or email to ask questions or reserve a place for a seminar to watch from,
Sincerely ~ Mark Bulvanoski
